documentary: placards and protest
In recent years many have become disillusioned with the protest movement. Those in Canada and the United States see seas of placards and protesters on the evening news and the causes matter less than the inconvenience of the demonstrations. Yet outside of North America, most people don't enjoy the luxery of voicing their dissent in public. Even in the United States, through legislation such as the Patriot Act, the act of protesting and demonstrating against government is no longer a right citizens can count on. Alternative media serves to document those demonstartions that still take place, but without unbiased mainstream media attention the protest movement will continue to flounder.
